On the eve of yet another strange St. Patrick’s Day, we would like to wish our friends and neighbours in keel pipeband all the very best on the occasion of the 75th year since their foundation.
Happy St. Patrick’s Day from all of us in Dooagh!
The strangest St. Patrick’s Day in living memory. It’s strange not to be following the bands to the churches and enjoying the craic.
Enjoy the day as best that you can and stay safe!
Joint Statement from the Pipe Bands of Achill
Following on from the outbreak of COVID-19 and the advice from Government, the pipe bands of Achill met last Tuesday and again today, Thursday (12th March) and have taken the difficult decision to cancel our traditional St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.
The Pipe Bands have not taken this decision lightly, but in the interest of public health and safety, we feel it is a responsible and necessary one to make.

If you visited the site in the last few weeks, the appearance hasn’t been as good as usual. From today, the site has a new theme in honour of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the band. Not to mention that the website has now been in existence for 20 years.
I think that the site is more attractive and easier to use.
As usual, any comments or suggestions are welcome by email to paul@dooagh.com
To celebrate the momentous occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Dooagh National School Band 1966-2016, The Dooagh Pipe Band have decided to host a night of celebration with Music, Raffle, Slideshow and Finger Food on Easter Monday 28th March at 9pm in Lourdie’s, Dooagh following the School Band’s Historic march in Newport earlier that day. (No charge/donation required).
Watched an enjoyable Irish language programme over the weekend about Achill Island. Preparations for the 50th anniversary of the Dooagh School Band is featured.
Dooagh Day is getting ready for 2016 and have released a video with footage from the event from last year.
